There are not many famous and truly popular choreographers in modern figure skating. Most programs are staged within the headquarters, rarely someone from the outside is invited. Only eminent specialists can afford this, in whom they definitely have confidence, and whose approach is immediately readable.

But even so, new faces appear who try themselves in productions and develop, despite a certain conservatism of everything that happens in their sport. Some time ago it became known that for the conqueror of the frog Vladislav Dikidzhi the new short program was choreographed by the 23-year-old Egor Murashov.

A few years ago, he actively took part in competitions, but had no serious achievements. The skater trained for most of his career with Victoria Butsaeva at the Moskvich school. He also tried himself in the Swiss national team and took silver at the national championship. After finishing his career, Yegor appeared on the show Tatiana Navka and developed in this direction.

Now it has become known that Murashov is also trying himself as a choreographer. So, he put on a short program Roman Savosin to Josh Groban’s “You Raise Me Up.” It seems that the music is quite hackneyed and has already been shown on ice many times. Only after this work, Egor began to be invited by various skaters, including Dikidzhi.

If you follow Savosin closely, you will notice a certain style that this skater developed throughout his career. Basically, these are rhythmic and catchy compositions, where you can mimic existing patterns in a mimicry and plastic way. For example, “Bella ciao” is one of Roman’s brightest works. He easily adapts to this light and relaxed mood.

Therefore, this season’s short program can be called a full-fledged experiment and a way out of the comfort zone. Savosin had already returned after a long break: it seemed that this was not the time to try something new, it was necessary to fully recover. Murashov took his good gliding as a basis and completely turned the image around, turning him from an easy and relaxed skater into a real lyrical hero. It turns out that he took into account all the advantages of the athlete, but showed them from a new side.

This is exactly the option that Dikiji needs now. He showed how he can jump consistently and get crazy technique. So far things are not going so well with the second assessment. He lacks the strength for high-quality choreography and speed, so he needs a precise and individual approach. Murashov, in turn, proved that even in a short program he can reveal the artistic potential of an athlete without much clutter and tricks.

Perhaps, after such cooperation, Yegor will cease to be an anonymous director. There was serious criticism towards Dikiji regarding the choreography, so any changes will definitely be noted by both experts and fans. Murashov admitted that in the future he wants to create his own ice show or in collaboration with someone. So far, at the initial stage, it is clear that he has powerful potential to change the approach to figure skating programs.
