Microsoft’s Grounded runs worse on PlayStation 5 than on Xbox Series X

Grounded in the version for PlayStation 5 inferior in performance and image quality to the original version of the survival simulator for Xbox Series Xaccording to analysis from Digital Foundry.

Experts reviewed Xbox-exclusive ports for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch and came to the conclusion that both versions leave much to be desired.

In the case of the Nintendo console, the decrease in graphics quality and performance was expected due to weak hardware, while the results on the PS5 were surprising, given that in technical terms it is not much different from the Xbox Series X.

In particular, the dynamic resolution range in the PS5 version of Grounded is from 1080p before 1215pwhile on Xbox Series X – from 1512p to 2160p. At the same time, the frame rate is often in the region 50 FPS and is far from the more stable 60 FPS on Xbox Series X.

There are drawdowns both here and there, but on the PlayStation 5 they are longer, resulting in VRR works worse.

Graphics-wise, Grounded on PlayStation 5 runs with the same settings as on Xbox Series X, with two exceptions. In PS5 version more detailed geometry and sharper contours of shadows, but at the same time the anti-aliasing works worse, against which noise and flickering are noticeable.

Concerning Switchthen the game runs on it with scaling from 360p before 720p in the dock, and also has lower quality assets, disabled effects of depth of field, volumetricity and light columns, and the performance, although within the 30 FPSbut the timing of frame changes is uneven, which leads to strong stuttering.
