The mysterious Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe was officially announced by Ubisoft back in 2022. The developers promised to surprise fans of the franchise with the most unusual game in the series, which will stand out for its very dark setting and the difficult period of the Holy Roman Empire of the 16th century. This is where the official information ends, but today we have more interesting details about the game from reputable insider Tom Henderson. Apparently, Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe will be a lot like the very first games in the series.
The leaker claims that production of Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe is still in its early stages. The game’s internal release date is scheduled for mid-2026 on the Infinity platform. This game in the series was intended by the developers to be more linear, with little exploration of open or semi-open locations, as was implemented in earlier games in the franchise.
Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe will reportedly only have one protagonist. The plot will unfold from the perspective of a girl named Elsa, who was accused of witchcraft. Moreover, the heroine will indeed have some supernatural abilities. Other details of the gameplay remain unknown, but the insider described in detail the use of one of the heroine’s abilities, which was shown to him by one of the game developers under the condition of remaining anonymous.
Elsa is being hunted by 16th century German soldiers (picture of what the soldiers look like here) and she uses a spell to possess a nearby cat. The player then controls the cat and uses it to distract the soldiers by knocking over a glass bottle, which breaks on the ground and distracts the soldier’s attention.

The overall action gameplay style shows a very dark tone to the in-game world. According to an insider, the game even implements a certain fear system, which will resemble the mechanics of the Assassin’s Creed Syndicate add-on – Jack The Ripper.
