--

From the very release of Honkai: Star Rail, it became clear that the developers put into the game not only interesting gameplay and versatile characters, but also an intricate lore, which acquires new details with each update. Of course, it is impossible to answer all the players’ questions, so various guesses and assumptions began to appear in the fandom. In this collection, we’ve collected eight mysterious and sometimes creepy fan theories about Honkai: Star Rail.

The pioneer will become an Aeon in the end

One of the most popular theories, which may well be true, concerns the main character of the game – the Pathfinder (Stella/Kelus). Many fans believe that it is not for nothing that he receives blessings from the Aeons and at the end of the path he himself can become one of the deities. Already now, the Pathfinder can change the path from Destruction to Preservation, and by the end of the Penaconia plot, the hero will also acquire the powers of Harmony.

Surely changing paths is not just a gameplay convention, because in a similar game Genshin Impact, the Traveler gradually restores his previous strength by absorbing different elements. Some fans even believe that the main character in HSR may become some kind of reincarnation of the deceased Eon of Conquest – Akivili.

Is Pom-Pom really Akivili?

If we continue the conversation about Akivili, another theory emerges, according to which the Aeon of Mastery is directly connected with Pom-Pom, the conductor of the Starry Express. Little is known about Pom-Pom in general: the game does not reveal either gender, race, or how old the character is. However, in patch 2.0, one albeit inaccurate, but very funny detail about this creature was revealed. The pioneer could watch a dream from Doctor Edward, in which the guide scolded Akivili himself. Of course, dreams can be false, but if Pom-Pom knew the creator of the Starry Express, then a whole field of thought opens up.

Some players suggest that in fact the conductor is the soul of the train, because Pom-Pom cannot leave the transport, and she exists almost forever (according to Himeko, when she found the express, Pom-Pom was already on it). According to another theory, the conductor is the remnants of Akivili’s soul, which materialized after his sudden death. Well, the third version – Pom-Pom was created by the Eon of Development specifically as an assistant on the Star Express.

Is March 7 connected to Fuli’s Eon of Memory?

March 7, like the entire cast of the Nameless Ones, is a mysterious personality who has yet to be revealed. According to Welt and Himeko, the girl was found frozen in six-phase ice that was drifting in outer space. When the Nameless Ones rescued her, it turned out that March 7 remembers absolutely nothing about her past. At Luofu Xianzhou, the heroine’s story received a little insight thanks to Fu Xuan. The soothsayer tried to look into the girl’s past. And although the attempt could be called unsuccessful, the players learned that the memory of March 7 was most likely sealed by Fuli, the Aeon of Memory.

In this regard, many theories have appeared about how an ordinary girl is connected with a deity. There are many versions floating around the Internet: someone claims that March is Fuli (they are associated with memory, and from the Virtual Universe it became clear that the blessing of Aeon imposes a freezing effect, which means that Fuli, like March, controls ice). Some suggest a creepy theory that March 7 did something so terrible that the deity had to forcibly erase her memory.

Himeko is Polka Kakamond?

Himeko seems the most ordinary compared to the other Nameless Ones with their secret pasts and secrets. However, theories are also being made about the Starlight Express navigator. One of them is that Himeko is actually Polka Kakamond, a member of the Society of Geniuses No. 4. At first it may seem that this secret is absolutely harmless, and many players have not even heard of this name. However, it is not for nothing that Polka is called the Lady of Silence.

The game says that Kakamond destroyed all her images and sculptures with her own hands, so no one even knows her face. Such secrecy is not without reason, because Polka could easily be called a serial killer. She killed several members of the Society of Geniuses, including Emperor Rupert, who led the machines’ rebellion against humanity. The fact that Himeko is Polka Kakamond is hinted at by several facts. Firstly, both heroines have elements of roses in their clothes and a common symbol – silk gloves.

Secondly, this is the mind of the girls: if Himeko was able to single-handedly repair Aeon’s creation (Star Express), and even create several other inventions, then Nus (Aeon of Erudite) would have turned her attention to her long ago. However, if Himeko is Polka Kakamond, then the deity has long noticed her. It’s also worth mentioning that Kafka knows Polka and most likely knows Himeko. In the scene where the Stellaron Hunter first appears to the Nameless One, a strange reaction from the express’s navigator can be seen with the naked eye. If we connect the two facts together, we can assume that Kafka knows Himeko’s secret, and she, in turn, fears that it will be revealed.

Do the characters know they are in the game?

Although this theory can be called banal, it does exist in the world of Honkai: Star Rail. And now we will talk about two characters who indirectly confirm this hypothesis, because they love to break the fourth wall and make references that only players will understand. The first such hero is, in fact, the Pioneer himself. In many of the dialogues, responses, and even his thoughts, there are jokes that clearly break the fourth wall. For example, the Pioneer talks about how he can’t jump well, jokes about spins and how he doesn’t like losing in gacha. Although these references cannot be called a full-fledged breaking of the fourth wall, it all leads to certain thoughts.

But which of the characters is shrouded in such an aura of mystery that it becomes creepy is Sampo. The hero appeared in the plot of Belobog, but only on Penaconia is it revealed that he belongs to the Masked Klutzes – followers of the Aeon of Joy. At the end of the story, Yarilo-VI Sampo addresses the players directly: he looks intently into the camera and asks if we liked his performance. In addition, fans noticed a few more strange things about Sampo: he doesn’t leave footprints in the snow, and if you put him sideways, he won’t look straight like other characters, but sometimes glance at the camera. In addition, Sampo somehow knew about other planets, unlike the rest of the inhabitants of Belobog. Moreover, he visited them while Yarilo-VI was completely cut off from space.

The pioneer never knew the real Tingyun?

Another rather creepy theory concerns Tingyun, who at the end of Luofu Xianzhou’s plot turned out to actually be Fantilia, the emanator of the Aeon of Destruction (a follower of Nanuk, who received power from him). After Fantilia revealed herself under the guise of Tingyun, the body of the girl from the fox people was never found. The heroine has not yet been officially declared dead. Due to this, fans have speculated that Tingyun either never actually existed as a separate person, or that the Emanator of Destruction took over her body before or during the Lofu storyline. After all, she was practically the first character that the Pioneer met on the path.

From the remarks of other heroes, it is still learned that there was a real Tingyun, because many characters remember her, including Yukun and Fu Xuan. However, fans naturally ask the question: if the girl really existed, then at what point did Fantilia replace her? Perhaps the real Tingyun is still alive, and the emanator only took on her guise? In any case, there is a possibility that not only the Nameless Ones, but also everyone who surrounded her did not know the real heroine.

Misha is the Watchmaker?

In addition to theories about characters from past stories, many fans are speculating about the current plot of Penaconia. Almost all of the presented heroes of the Planet of Dreams have their secrets, and some of them come true. However, the developers do not seem to specifically pay attention to such an inconspicuous, at first glance, character – Misha. The bellboy seems like a third-rate hero compared to the others, which cannot but confuse him. Therefore, players began to speculate what impact Misha would have on the plot of Penaconia.

During the history of the Planet of Dreams, a certain Clockmaker is mentioned more than once, who is almost the central figure. All the motley characters who arrive at the Dream Hotel are chasing his legacy. But what if the famous Watchmaker is literally under your nose? The inconspicuous Misha is best suited for this role: he is connected with the cartoon character Chasik (whom only the Pioneer can see), but no one seems to notice the bellhop himself. When the main character finds himself in the “Child’s Dream” location, the letters on the walls also talk about a certain Mikhail. Even the hero’s design features a watch, which leads to certain thoughts.

Of course, there are many more fan theories: some of them concern individual characters or locations, and some reveal large chunks of lore. Some of them turn out to be true – for example, Firefly turned out to be Sam, the Stellaron Hunter. Some remain just interesting speculations.
