What causes this phenomenon

Mars never ceases to amaze. This time, in the southern polar region of the planet, the Mars Express apparatus captured an unusual phenomenon. We are talking about giant “spiders” that were formed as a result of the change of seasons, reports the European Space Agency.

The fact is that during the winter carbon dioxide deposits formed on the planet. When the sun’s rays hit them, gas is formed, which bursts out along with dark dust in the form of geysers.

The dust then settles, forming many black spots on the surface. They have an unusual spider-like pattern and range from 45 m to 1 km in diameter.

As a result of recent research, scientists have discovered a large concentration of “spiders” on the outskirts of the area, which was nicknamed the City of the Incas. This is a line of mountain ranges that resembles the ruins of one of the oldest settlements on Earth, Mir24 reports.
