In April, Telegram received more than 15 new features. In this material we talk about these innovations.
Recommended channels
A new “Channels” tab has appeared in the search menu with all the channels to which the user is subscribed. It also has a list of recommended channels. Recommendations are based on the topics of the channels to which the user is already subscribed.
Section “My Profile”
A “My Profile” section has appeared in Settings, where you can see how other users see your profile, as well as change or add information about yourself. Here you can also pin up to 3 stories to the top of your page.
Channel creators can now add them to their profile page. In this case, a preview of the latest message from the channel will be displayed above the About section.
Owners of collection addresses can link them to their Telegram accounts or channels. A list of such addresses is displayed in the user profile. Clicking on a collectible address or anonymous number in someone’s profile now shows additional information, such as when the user purchased it and for what amount.
Birthdays
Users can now indicate their date of birth in their profile. Anyone who visits the birthday person’s profile will be greeted with animated confetti and balloons. On a contact’s birthday, a notification will appear above the list of chats, offering to gift them a Telegram Premium subscription.
Indefinite broadcast of geolocation
You can now extend the broadcast of your location indefinitely using the new “Until I turn it off” option.
Reaction notification settings
The update includes settings that allow you to manage notifications about reactions to messages. Notifications for reactions to stories have also been added.
User photos when forwarding messages
Now in forwarded messages, next to the author’s name, his avatar is displayed. This change makes it easier to understand who a message was forwarded from and easier to read in forwarded conversations with multiple participants.
Animated emoji in surveys
Premium users can now use animated and custom emoji in surveys.
Mass moderation in groups
Now, when moderating groups, administrators can select multiple messages at once and perform several moderation actions at the same time. In the new menu, you can separately specify what measures will be applied to each of the authors of the selected messages. You can also limit the rights of users in a group instead of completely blocking them.
Administrators of groups with more than 200 members can also enable active antispam filter mode – Telegram algorithms will automatically detect and restrict suspicious members.
Updated “Recent Activity” section
In the Recent Activity section, group admins can view important events that have occurred in the last 48 hours, such as edits and deletions of messages or official admin activities.
With this update, the list has become more compact: actions of the same type are grouped if they were performed by the same administrator. In addition, administrators now see replies and the names of the topics to which messages belong in the section.
Managing reactions in channels
Channel administrators have an additional way to manage reactions to messages – they can now specify the maximum number of different reactions to one message.
Disabling ad hiding
By default, users with a Telegram Premium subscription do not see ads in their channels. Now, if they wish, they can return the display of advertising in the settings.
Opening stories in incognito mode
When viewing stories, Premium users can enable incognito mode from a drop-down menu, which allows them to hide recent views and new views for the next 25 minutes.
Now incognito mode can also be activated from the list of chats – to do this, simply call up the menu by long pressing on one of the stories in the top panel and select “View anonymously”.
Quickly switch between topics
Now, while viewing a group with topics and reading the chat to the end, you can pull the screen up and go to the next topic where there are unread messages.
Quickly view links in Telegram Desktop
The cross-platform Telegram client for computers now supports quick browsing of websites: pages with all media files can be opened directly in the application.
Monetization program for content creators
Telegram has introduced a monetization program for channel owners – now they can receive a reward in the amount of 50% of Telegram’s income from advertising that is displayed in the channel. Commission-free withdrawal of rewards is already available to program participants on the Fragment platform.
