Poland, following Germany, promised not to deport Ukrainians with expired passports

--

Poland will not deport Ukrainian citizens with expired passports. As reported by UNIAN, the head of the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs, Marcin Kerwiński, stated this on TVN24.

According to Kervinsky, people with expired documents will be subject to temporary protection, like all other Ukrainian refugees.

The minister also assured that Poland will not transfer personal data of Ukrainians to anyone, including the Ukrainian authorities.

After the adoption of a new law on mobilization in Ukraine, the country’s authorities prohibited citizens of military age from obtaining passports at consular offices abroad.

The authorities of Germany, the country that accepted the most refugees from Ukraine, said that Ukrainians will be able to remain in the country even after their documents expire.

Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh stated that Warsaw is ready to help Kyiv return men of military age who left the country after the start of the war. He did not specify what exactly this assistance would consist of.
