Protests against the war in the Gaza Strip have not stopped at American universities – students are setting up tents on campuses, demanding that the United States abandon any financial ties with Israel and stop supporting the fighting, which has been going on for more than six months. Columbia University became the center of the protests. Last week, university officials called the police, who arrested more than 100 people. Then the situation escalated – and dozens more demonstrators were detained at Yale, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Southern California and Boston University. On April 22, Columbia University announced the cancellation of in-person classes. Two days later, the scheme of classes in a “hybrid” format with the possibility of distance learning was extended until the end of the year, including final exams.
