FA: An alliance against Iran may emerge in the Middle East
In the Middle East, prerequisites have emerged for the formation of an alliance against Iran after its attack on Israel, Foreign Affairs reports, citing analysts from the Institute for National Security Studies. In their opinion, the Arab states will side with Tel Aviv if its conflict with Tehran continues to escalate.
The Institute for National Security Studies, a leading Israeli think tank, said the regional and international coalition involved in intercepting missiles from Iran towards Israel demonstrates the potential for a regional alliance against Iran.– said in the material.
However, according to the authors of the publication, such analysts’ assessments are exaggerated and do not reflect the full complexity of the problems in the Middle East. They noted that before the Hamas attack in the fall of 2023, Arab countries became disillusioned with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who supported the expansion of the state’s settlements in the West Bank. As journalists emphasized, tensions in the region escalated further after the shelling of the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, military expert Alexey Leonkov said that the countries of the Middle East have taken a course towards rearmament after the end of the war in Iraq. According to him, Iran with its industry is in many ways ahead of its neighbors in this matter. As the expert explained, now many military bases and other important infrastructure on the territory of the republic are protected by rock formations, therefore neither Israel nor the United States can get close to these objects.
