Starting this week. The first batch of tiles was delivered to the center of Kostroma, which will be laid on the roadway. In the near future, milling of the old asphalt will begin, which will be replaced by imitation cobblestone.

Granite tiles with rounded edges. It is 1.5 times thicker and stronger than the one laid in the pedestrian area. Despite the fact that part of Susaninskaya Square has already been opened for walks by citizens and tourists, work is still underway there. The covering is cleaned of winter debris and sand. Then the tile must be compacted so that it shrinks. Special drainage trays have already been made to drain water from the area.

Mikhail Rechkin, project manager: “The tiles are laid with a slope. The slope is very small. Plus the tile has a slight roughness. That’s why when it rains, it looks like there are puddles on it. But in reality it is slowly draining water. The thickness of this layer is 1-2 mm and does not interfere with the passage at all. Drainage trays are made in those places where it is necessary. At the end of the square, near Kalancha, there is a large deep tray with a grate that will receive all the water. And along the pedestrian part, along Sovetskaya Street, we have made a small tray in the form of lowering the tiles by 2 cm.”
