Huawei nova 12s

The title of the main smartphone of April rightfully belongs to Huawei nova 12s. The smartphone has several interesting characteristics that set it apart from its competitors.

Nova 12s turned out to be extremely attractive. The thickness of the case is only 6.88 mm, tiny symmetrical frames around the screen and an unusual matte “frosty” texture of the rear panel. And such a surface does not attract fingerprints.

The unique feature of the smartphone is its powerful camera system. The front camera has a resolution of 60 MP, and the main camera is a combination of a 50 MP module with laser autofocus and an 8 MP macro sensor. But it’s not even the camera resolution that’s attractive, but the new XD Portrait Engine processing algorithm. Here we directly recommend going to the store and trying to take selfies and portraits on your smartphone. And then immediately open the photo in the “Gallery”. If you’re lucky and do it quickly, you’ll be able to see the algorithm in action. Colors, shadows, tints are placed before the eyes, and sharpness is compensated. It’s not for nothing that Huawei is the leader in mobile photography. The company has held first place in the DXOMARK ranking for many years.

It is especially impressive that the algorithm does not stumble when blurring the background on headphones and glasses.

Nova 12s received a new generation screen. This is an OLED panel with a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a resolution of 2412 by 1084 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz for increased smoothness of interfaces.

Coupled with the general optimization and bright colors of the interface, the smartphone initially impresses with its overall smooth operation. However, what may have played a role here is that before the nova 12s I tested several simpler smartphones, and Huawei has always been famous for its smooth interface. In fact, even now, when all manufacturers have seriously upgraded themselves, only the iPhone can compete with Huawei in the overall responsiveness of the interface.

The nova series has always had good screens in terms of color reproduction and brightness, but now the screen brightness is truly flagship – 1300 nits. The main advantage of high screen brightness is comfort when working with a smartphone on a sunny day outside. For example, you start the camera, and it’s immediately clear from the viewfinder what the final photo will be like. When the screen is dim, you shoot at random, and then in the shadows you look at what you filmed there.

And, of course, the smartphone has good performance. More than 600 thousand points in the AnTuTu v10 test, so you can comfortably play both PUBG and Genshin Impact on medium settings.

We have a big review of the smartphone. You can read it at the link.

Herman Miller X Logitech G Embody Gaming Chair

In every person’s life there are things that he dreams of. Often, as dreams develop, they transform and narrow under the influence of external circumstances. For example, if as a child I dreamed of a Porshe, now on the fly I even misspelled the brand (correctly Porsche), because a petrol Moskvich for 1.66 million looks quite good. Well, or, as I got older, I dreamed that I would have a bidet in my apartment, now in a rented Moscow apartment I am very glad that I bought my favorite Japanese wet toilet paper at a discount on Ozon (because no matter how difficult your life is, you must not forget that the butt is not to blame and deserves better!).

One of the dreams that, apparently, will have to say goodbye to forever is the Herman Miller chair. Specifically the latest collaboration with Logitech.

The Herman Miller X Logitech G Embody Gaming Chair looks like a dream for those who work at the computer for many hours a day.

Here is space design – laconic, elegant, and most importantly, thoughtful! More than 30 physiotherapists and candidates of science in the field of biomechanics were involved in creating the chair.

The special foam that is used for the seat has a cooling effect so that your butt doesn’t get too hot! There are 150 support points along the seat and back that distribute weight and ensure blood circulation! The chair also has some PostureFit technology that simulates a standing position. The lowest point of the spine is the sacrum. In the standing pose she is at her strongest. Thus, the pelvis and lower back are strengthened, preventing fatigue and slouching.

In reviews, people write that they can sit on the chair all day and not feel tired. And finally, the chair comes with a 12-year warranty.

The only downside of the chair is the price of 2 thousand dollars. It’s already unpleasant, but in Rus’ the price has mutated to 400 thousand rubles.

“Time of Troubles”

The presented game “Troubles” brought confusion to the domestic gaming community and the gaming community. Some journalists and bloggers quarreled, and ordinary gamers were simply embarrassed, because they expected one thing, but it turned out something else. As always, we were pleased by government officials who said that the Western trace was noticeable in the negative campaign launched against the Troubles. Oh, those Anglo-Saxons! They are always and everywhere trying to bring discord and confusion into the fragile minds of the Russian people. It’s strange that they didn’t launch a campaign against Atomic Heart, because there is a more pressing and scary topic for the collective West – the alternative Soviet Union.

What government officials apparently don’t know is that gamers around the world are the most toxic and vile crowd. However, that’s how it is here. If the game is on, they will carry it in their arms. And if not, then it’s better not to go to the Internet.

The “Time of Troubles” game was not included in the selection of gadgets of the month, but the free demo version of “Time of Troubles” was included, which I recommend to everyone to download and play.

I don’t recommend playing the game itself. One could turn a blind eye to all the flaws in the game mechanics if the story were interesting. Or watch one of the many streams. I think more than 20 minutes will not be enough for you. Because it’s boring!

But “The Troubles” still has two advantages.

First of all, this game is an experience! Not for players, but for developers. Several hundred people involved in the project gained experience in creating high-quality games. And there is no need to be indignant that the experience was obtained at our taxpayers’ expense. Look how many students study on a budget. You’re not complaining. And then there was a kind of intensive game development. Considering the short development time, it can be called a hackathon.

Secondly, and here’s a bonus for you and me, “Time of Troubles,” and specifically the demo version of “Time of Troubles,” is an excellent option to immerse yourself in the history of Rus’. After all, the surroundings, objects, cities, as I understand it, are recreated with relative accuracy.

So pay for a subscription to VK Play (it’s unlikely that your folk GT 1650 will be able to handle “The Troubles” in all its glory), grab the free version of the game and wander around the area. Get imbued, so to speak, with the spirit of Rus’.

I would like to believe that the failure will not discourage the developers and they will take on the film adaptation of other historical events, where they will take advantage of the experience gained.

I would suggest developing the concept of “The Troubles” and making a kind of almanac: short episodes of 2-4 hours dedicated to specific historical events. Considering the existing layout, with minimal modifications to the textures, you can make a dramatic action about the oprichnina, then try to recreate Moscow and make a couple of stories in the scenery of the capital of the early-mid 17th century. The main thing is to devote more time to creating an interesting plot.

Electric “Moskvich 3E”

Since I rode the Moskvich for almost a month, I can’t help but add it to my list of gadgets. In addition, it meets the main requirements for gadgets: expensive and needs to be charged. The latter, by the way, looks funny in real life. So, getting ready to go to the city center on business in the evening, I carried out a check. I put the laptop on charge, put the tripod-mount on charge, charge the headphone case, and then I remember that the car has 30% of the charge left and I should also go and put it on charge (in the end I got lazy and parked it in the center to charge).

I drove the Moskvich to the center and to the market to buy carrots, and then charged it at the free city electric charger.

The car definitely interested me. And if it works out, then in July I’ll try to go to St. Petersburg with it to see how things are with charging. I wanted to go to the May ones, but “Muscovites” are in high demand. Journalists and bloggers write, people read on the Internet. Well, in the Russian winter, of course, you will have to take it to see how a car lives in the parking lot near the house in the bitter cold.

The main obstacle on the path to success remains the price. Now they have reduced the price of the gasoline version to 1.6 million, and immediately record sales. I’ll assume that if they started selling the electric Moskvich for 2.5 million rubles, the entire lot would be sold out in no time, because it’s an ideal car for the city. By city I specifically mean Moscow. Or Pereyaslavl-Zalessky. There is a solid private sector there, and it would be possible to recharge the car from an outlet (a full charge at a rate of 7 rubles per kilowatt would cost 460 rubles).

In general, I propose to treat Moskvich as a successful version of Troubles. Yes, not everything worked out perfectly the first time, but they are slowly moving towards success.

Insta360 X4

Insta360 introduced a new action camera Insta360 X4, which can shoot 360 degrees in a resolution of 8K 30 frames per second, 5.7K at 60 fps, or 4K at 100 fps. And at first I didn’t understand why such a gigantic resolution was needed. Even the 8K TV market made the cat cry. And then I realized that this was preparation for the transition to the VR era. Videos shot on such a camera will be very cool to watch in Apple Vision Pro.

The main joke of such a camera is that it films both you and everything around you at once, and then with the help of artificial intelligence you can highlight the best moments. Thanks to the “invisible monopod” function, it is possible to shoot as if from a third person. And if videos are not needed, they can be turned into photos with a resolution of 72 MP.

Unlike GoPro, with this camera you can immediately dive to a depth of 10 meters. The camera costs $500. But keep in mind that, in addition to the camera, you will also need a flagship smartphone. In the list of supported models, the manufacturer indicates all iPhones, as well as Android smartphones on flagship chipsets starting with Snapdragon 855, Exynos 2200 and Kirin 990. And it is separately noted that “phones equipped with Qualcomm SDM765 5G chips (for example, OPPO Reno 3 5G) have low hardware decoding performance and are not suitable for use.”

Conclusion

And remember, now is the best time to buy things because they will become more expensive later. Happy May holidays and good weather to everyone.
