The Samara Department of Transport lost in court on claims brought by the prosecutor’s office. They relate to the issue of ensuring transport security in the metro. The head of the transport department, Sergei Markin, stated this at a meeting of the City Duma committee for the development of urban infrastructure, housing and communal services and the environment.

“The demands of the prosecutor’s office are fully justified. But the implementation of all transport security measures requires about 1 billion rubles. There is no such amount. But we are trying to fulfill the requirements as much as possible, based on the funds that we have,” said Sergei Markin.

After the meeting, the head of the Department of Transport explained to Volga News that there are 21 infrastructure facilities in the Samara metro, and for each an action plan has been drawn up to ensure transport safety.

“For example, according to the requirements, 1,000 people must work in the transport security department of the metro. And in total, about a thousand people are employed in the MP. There are requirements for installing an intelligent video surveillance system. Our plans are to gradually resolve these issues. This year we have allocated 64 million rubles. It is planned to equip one metro station with an intelligent video surveillance system,” said Sergei Markin.
