The main events dedicated to the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War will be held on May 9. At 9.00 there will be a solemn meeting and laying of flowers at the Memorial to employees and students who did not return from the Great Patriotic War, participants in battles and home front workers (Lenin Ave., 43a, near the second building). It will be attended by students of the TPU Military Training Center, representatives of student organizations and the university administration.

In addition, Tomsk Polytechnic University traditionally joined the “Victory Dictation” campaign. It will take place on April 26 in room 204 of the main building of the university (Lenin Ave., 30). Registration of participants will begin at 15.45, the dictation will begin at 16.00.

The university is also the organizer of the open youth festival of poetry and music “Lines scorched by war.” On April 26 at 17:00 a gala concert with the best numbers will be held on the stage of the concert hall of the International Cultural Center (Usova St., 13v). Its participants compete in four areas: literary (poetic or prose), musical (song, ballad, romance), dance and theater. Teams and participants with the most points will receive diplomas and valuable gifts.

From May 1 to May 15, a series of exhibitions dedicated to the events of the Great Patriotic War will be held at the Scientific and Technical Library of Tomsk Polytechnic University (Belinskogo St., 53a). Thus, at the event “Universities during the War,” library staff will talk about the development of science, student life in Tomsk and the achievements of TPU (then TII) scientists for the benefit of the Victory. The exhibition “Scorched Rhyme” will feature poetry from the war years, and the exhibition in the reading room of humanitarian literature “It was the month of May – it was Victory Day” will feature historical books about the Great Victory.

Tomsk Polytechnic also joined the All-Russian distance running tournament “Victory Marathon” from the Association of Student Sports Clubs of Russia. Anyone under 35 years of age can become a member. To do this, you need to register on the website and install the Pacer or Relive mobile application. Participants will be counted for jogging from 3 kilometers in one workout at an average speed of at least 6.6 kilometers per hour. Recording a GPS track of your workouts is required; the number of runs is unlimited. The tournament will last until May 11, and its results will be known on May 13. The winners will be determined in individual and team competitions.

This year, as part of the All-Russian patriotic campaign “Windows of Victory,” the windows of the university campus will traditionally be decorated with thematic drawings and stencils. Hostel No. 13 (Vershinina St., 39), hostel No. 17 (Vershinina St., 48), hostel No. 5 (Pirogov St., 18), hostel No. 11 (Vershinina St., 33), kindergarten No. 108 (Uchebnaya St., 16) and the Scientific and Technical Library of the University. Students and staff, with the support of volunteers from the student patriotic society “Your Approach,” decorated the windows with thematic drawings and stencils. The promotion will last until May 15, anyone can join it.

In addition, during May, film screenings for students will be held in TPU dormitories. The show schedule will be available in the group.
