This task was set by Governor Alexey Russkikh when presenting his annual report to the ZSO on April 24.

“We want the Ulyanovsk region to be talked about as a place convenient for living, studying, working and relaxing. A place to put down roots, create families, give birth and raise children. And for this we need convenient, comfortable housing, landscaped courtyards, good roads and safe public transport, well-paid work, the opportunity to develop children and give them a good education, and an eventful leisure sphere,” said the head of the region.

But big problems in organizing public transport in Ulyanovsk and Dimitrovgrad still remain. As well as the poor quality of service in minibus taxis. City residents, and this problem has been around for many years, practically do not have the opportunity to leave the center for the Volga region in the evening.

“These are long-standing issues that have no easy solutions. I set the task of replacing minibus taxis with municipal public transport. It is necessary to increase the presence of state-owned enterprises in the total volume of urban passenger traffic. Moreover, large and medium class buses should operate on the routes. Therefore, we will continue to purchase buses, trolleybuses and trams for the regional center. It is necessary to use federal support measures to update rolling stock in passenger transportation,” Russkikh said.
