In Omsk at the beginning of May there will be a festive shipment of humanitarian aid for the Northern Military District soldiers

— Anna, what kind of work has been done recently by the specialists of the United Humanitarian Center?

— In total, we sent almost two thousand tons of humanitarian cargo, about 165 vehicles, to Lugansk and Stakhanov. Every time we send one truck, there are from 80 to 100 personalized parcels for fighters.

— How many people are involved in the work of the gum center?

— There is an opinion that the humanitarian center is a volunteer center, but this is not so. This is a professional job. We have an office on Petra Nekrasova Street, 3, as well as a warehouse on Neftezavodskaya Street. A team of two people works in a warehouse in Lugansk, and a team that works in a warehouse in Omsk consists of seven people. The guys from the Student Assistance League come to our aid. They keep a watch – every week six to eight people come to the warehouse to load parcels into trucks. We collect ready-made parcels, check them and send them to a warehouse in Lugansk. If Omsk residents want to bring humanitarian aid, then we, of course, will accept it. Most often these are food and clothing, but our main task is to send personalized parcels for fighters. Omsk residents bring ready-made parcels, packed, but we ask you not to do this so that we can check them. There were cases of transportation of prohibited goods, including alcohol. Let me remind you that it is prohibited to transport sharp objects, ammunition, or alcohol. Also, you should not send jam in glass jars, as they can break and the jam can ferment, because it’s already hot “behind the ribbon.”

— Do our soldiers now need sunscreen?

“I don’t think they will give them up, but there is no urgent need yet.” First of all, they need bactericidal plasters, remedies for calluses and corns. Medicines are also needed, but you need to look at which ones. Now the weather is hot in the combat zone, and the guys need mineral water. It is advisable to send “Omskaya” or “Karachinskaya”. Unfortunately, there was and remains a problem with water.

— When will the next shipment of humanitarian aid to the fighters be?

— According to an established tradition, this happens on Thursdays on the street. Neftezavodskaya, 40. By Wednesday before lunch, all cargo must be in storage so that we have time to form them. The next big holiday shipment is scheduled for May 2, and on May 9 we will send two more trucks. We will be grateful to Omsk residents if they manage to bring the parcels by this time.

“I know that the defenders of the Motherland share their mood with you. What is the guys’ morale like now?

— The military are tired both physically and mentally. Therefore, if anyone still doubts whether to conclude a contract with the Ministry of Defense or not, then do not think for long. After all, those who were mobilized really want to go home on vacation.

— What advice or recommendations can you give to future soldiers before being sent to the front line?

— Contract soldiers leave for the Northern Military District already prepared. They are fully equipped with everything necessary to perform combat missions. Already on the front line they will need some things, volunteers come to help.

— Where can Omsk residents who want to help financially, for example, send money to buy equipment, go?

— We don’t have many organizations that collect financial assistance. The social networks of the Unified Humanitarian Center of the Omsk Region contain details for fundraising. I warn Omsk residents that before sending money they need to check whether this organization is officially registered so as not to fall for the tricks of scammers.

— Anna, do SVO members visit the humanitarian center?

– Yes, they come and chat and offer their help. But more often there are those who are on vacation in order to receive the equipment on request that we purchased. Meetings with fighters are held more often in the building of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, which is located next to us.
