It will cost Nizhny Novgorod residents more than 935 rubles to prepare traditional Easter dishes this year. Last spring we spent about 814 rubles on this. Over the year, prices increased by 14.8%. A journalist from the news agency “In the City of N” came to this conclusion after studying Nizhny Novgorodstat data for April 15, 2024 and April 17, 2023.
Thus, over the past year, the price of Easter cake has risen noticeably—by almost 17.4%. The average cost of ingredients excluding yeast, raisins, nuts and various dried fruits increased from 193 to 226 rubles.
Half a kilogram of flour now costs 20 rubles, half a dozen eggs – 58.8 rubles, a quarter liter of pasteurized milk – 17.8 rubles. For 200 grams of sugar and 150 grams of butter you will have to spend 12.8 and 117 rubles, respectively.
The cost of preparing Easter over the year increased from 548.7 to 591 rubles, that is, by 7.7%. This year Nizhny Novgorod residents will spend 350.2 rubles per kilogram of cottage cheese instead of 336.5 rubles last year. 150 grams of sugar and sour cream will cost 9.6 and 39.8 rubles, respectively. You will have to spend another 35.3 rubles for three eggs, and about 156 rubles for 200 grams of butter. For those who decide to add dried fruits or nuts to Easter, preparing the dish will cost even more.
Eggs have risen in price the most significantly over the year, which has affected the cost of other dishes. In mid-April, a dozen eggs can be bought for 117.7 rubles, which is more than 61% more expensive than a year earlier, when an average package was sold for 73 rubles.
