Governor Pavel Malkov, during his live broadcast on social networks, reported on the renewal of the fleet of buses and trolleybuses in Ryazan and spoke generally about the development of the public transport system in the city.
According to the head of the region, 11 large-class buses were purchased in March, and 17 more of the same type will arrive in the near future. At the same time, of the 108 buses that now go out daily, 92 are completely new.
As for the trolleybus fleet, it has also been seriously updated. 25 new trolleybuses are now running along the streets of Ryazan. Used trolleybuses from St. Petersburg also operate on the routes.
– We are now exploring the possibility of participating in the federal program for the development of electric transport in order to further update transport and transport infrastructure. We are looking for an opportunity to purchase special equipment for repairing contact trolleybus lines,” said Pavel Malkov.
Pavel Malkov named the shortage of drivers as one of the main problems of the municipal public transport system. It is for this reason, as the governor emphasized, that some routes remain without service. For example, trolleybus route No. 2.
– We are currently recruiting drivers and training them. We provide housing for non-residents. In September the salary was increased. The situation with municipal transport is gradually improving,” the governor explained.
Commercial carriers are a separate issue, as the head of the region said. But we are also working with them. Low-capacity routes are gradually being replaced by middle-class buses.
