Actors Al Pacino (House of Gucci) and Dan Stevens (Legion) will star in the exorcism horror film The Ritual. The film is directed by David Midell (“The Assassination of Kenneth Chamberlain”). The rights to the film were acquired by the film company XYZ Films.
The film should appear in cinemas in 2025, and the rights to it will be sold on the international market in Cannes this May. The script for the film was written by Midell and Enrico Natale (International Thumb Wrestling Federation). The horror film is reportedly based on real events.
The plot tells the story of two priests. One (Stevens) will question his faith, and the second (Pacino) will remember his difficult past. They will have to join forces to save the possessed young woman by performing an exorcism. The Ritual adapts the story of Emma Schmidt, a woman whose case of possession is considered the most thoroughly documented in history.
