Microsoft begins mass cancellation of fraudulent Xbox Game Pass subscriptions

Xbox Game Pass users have reported mass cancellations of subscriptions that were in violation of the Microsoft Services Agreement. Subscriptions purchased in good faith through other countries, including Argentina, Brazil and Turkey, continue to work.

The DTF resource cited the official response that Microsoft gave to a user who lost access to Game Pass. The company has identified a group of scammers who were bundling free trial offers for PC users and converting them into the top tier of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. There are also reports of skins using a bug on the Xbox system. Offers to issue such subscriptions appeared on various trading platforms, and it was easy to identify them – at a suspiciously low price, which amounted to 1700-2000 rubles. for 3 years.

A method is also proposed to estimate the probability of blocking your subscription. To do this, you need to go to your Xbox order history and see the details of the purchase. If the subscription entry has a monetary amount, then cancellation is unlikely – it’s worth worrying if this entry corresponds to a zero amount.

Fortunately, according to users, Microsoft does not apply strict sanctions to accounts with bad faith subscriptions: the account remains active, and the console continues to work as usual. At the same time, the company offers to reissue the Xbox Game Pass, but use the services of only trusted sellers. Microsoft did not specify the number of users with canceled subscriptions, but noted that this “a small part of the Xbox Game Pass community”.
